It was a great stay! The rooms are so beautyful furnished! We love the wood! The room was large and the ensuite had shower and bathtub and is also large. The bed was very comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay. The landscape is breathtaking! So beautyful!! I´m sure we will be back and have a longer stay! Our four day stay in Howe Keld was wonderful. It is within easy walking distance of bus service and boat service around the lake and you can hike directly from the B&B on numerous paths. It is close to the city centre yet is in a quiet location near a large park. The rooms are well appointed and spacious and the breakfast is the best we have had in the UK. “Two nights in a beautiful place, well located.”
More like a boutique hotel than a B&B, professionally but personally run, well situated both for the town and for the area interests generally. The breakfast, full-Scotish or a la carte, was excellent. The house is very beautiful, the room luxurious, the shower great. Val was very helpful with suggestions and information about the area, and there's a regular library full of resources in the handsome sitting room. We have stayed at the Howe Keld many times over the last 14 years and it has always been excellent. The breakfasts are delicious with excellent service. The rooms are spotless and of a high standard. David and Val are great hosts, are helpful and friendly and work extremely hard.

“Excellent; we were ** very ** pleased”
David and Val work consciously and energetically to provide a quality environment that emphasizes a quiet, modern, eco-based aesthetic for the overall comfort of their guests.
This was a return visit for us, and we anticipate returning again, hopefully in the not-too-distant future.
We have no qualms about recommending Howe Keld to others, and in fact have already done so to several of our friends.
