“Wonderful!”
Our room was impeccably clean and nicely decorated. David was very responsive and knowledgable in helping us prepare for our visit and find our way around the area once we arrived. Both the food and the service at breakfast were wonderful—the perfect way to start each day. “Excellent”
We opted for one of the superior rooms (Room 15) which was slightly more expensive but could not be faulted, and we appreciated having the extra space. Very large bathroom with bath and separate shower and equipped with everything we needed. Bedroom similarly well-equipped, and very comfortable large bed - the view from the window towards the mountains was glorious, ever-changing in different light throughout the day. “Nice place, great location”
We needed a place in Keswick where need for driving would be minimized. Easy access to the High Street area with multiple choices for food and shopping. Easy walk to the theater, boat dock, and trail access points.

“Great Visit to the Lake District”
Our room and facilities were excellent. The host arranged for us to leave our car in a car park within a few blocks. It also was the site of a beautiful park and theater that we enjoyed. He recommended four excellent restaurants and made dinner reservations for us at a different one of them each night. He also put us in contact wiith an excellent guide who drove us on a 7-hour tour of places in the Lake District that we would not have found or learned about on our own. “Excellent”
We spent a week at Howe Keld, and it was a very good experience. The room was lovely and clean and comfortable. The breakfast was always delicious, and we had so many choices each day. They were all good. Everybody on the staff was helpful, gracious, and cheerful. David never complained about getting our car for us in the morning even though he had just finished working on breakfast. He and Val were so helpful about suggesting places to see in the area. “A lovely B&B - we would definitely stay again.”
We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived.
Our room was lovely with a view over to the fells. The B&B is just a couple of minutes walk to the centre of Keswick where there were lots of very nice restaurants and shops, but it was also easy to get out of town - we were taking part in a triathlon in Buttermere and David kindly stored our bikes for us in their garage.
The breakfast was delicious and beautifully cooked and presented. The B&B was spotless and very nicely furnished.
It was a bit more expensive than some others we have stayed in but everything was good quality - the shower was really strong, and bed very comfy with lovely linens.

“Very clean and modern, liked it very much. ”
Howe Keld was one of two favorite b & b's in our 16 day road trip all over England. It ties with Bath Paradise Hotel. Breakfast options excellent, modern/clean decor with a beautiful view. Lots of help with things to do, eat, hike. And of course the Lake District itself was gorgeous.
I hate the duvet covers, so I was thrilled to find we could just have a sheet and light blanket instead. The ONLY thing I would add or change to my stay is to provide small fans for the rooms. I didn't see one in the room and I didn't ask. We have had fans in 2 other places and it helped make sleeping much nicer. I will recommend Howe Keld to anyone coming to the Lake District.

“Brilliant base for a walking holiday”
Absolutely wonderful guesthouse. Very comfortable rooms, extremely friendly and helpful owners & more than excellent breakfasts (with local and organic foods). Location is excellent for walking, as many great walks either start in Keswick or can be reached easily by bus. Keswick itself is a very nice town with plenty of good eating and drinking options, so makes an ideal base for a walking holiday in the Lake District. Highest recommendation! “Awesome accommodation!”
Owner, David, was friendly, accommodating to our requests, and informative as well as the rest of the entire staff. Location perfect, breakfasts superb, room was stellar (clean, modern, well thought out for travelers & their needs, ample size, comfortable). “Excellent stay with wonderful hosts”
Had the most wonderful couple of nights stay at Howe Keld. It is located just a few minutes walk away from the lake at Derwent Water, as well as the shops and cafes/restaurants in the centre of Keswick. The room was decorated perfectly (the wallpaper was fabulous!) with great views from the front of the house across to the fells, delicious products in the bathroom, little luxuries like bottled filtered water and food treats. Breakfast was a proper treat as well. Lots of choice, and everything we sampled was cooked perfectly. David and Val, as well as the other ladies who work there, are all really friendly and efficient as well as being a great source of info about the local area and beyond.
