“Loved our stay here!”
Our host and hostess were so accomodating. We loved our rooms and our breakfasts. It's so easy to walk to the sites in Keswick from this location. Howe Keld is a very special place - because the owners are two very special people. David and Val are brilliant hosts, totally committed to the comfort and well-being of their guests and this commitment shines through in every single aspect of your stay in their establishment. The rooms are beautifully decorated and immaculately clean with wonderfully comfortable beds and top quality bedding. Everything in the hotel has been chosen with care both for the comfort of the guests and the good of the environment and is of top quality - and this attention to detail does not just pertain to the more visible aspects of your hotel experience like the decor, furniture etc: a lot of thought and attention has also been given to the less immediately visible but equally important things such as the quality of the mattress, pillows etc. These things won't make you say "Wow" when you see your room but you certainly appreciate them when you go to bed!
The breakfast is amazing with a wonderful buffet and a vast array of cooked breakfast options - there really is something for everybody. And the staff are lovely - friendly, efficient and ever-ready to top up your coffee or fill your flask,
To top it all, the hotel is in a brilliant location close to both the centre of Keswick and the lake, so all in all, it is just the perfect place to stay. We have stayed at Howe Keld many times. It has to be the best Guest House we have ever visited.The place is scrupulously clean, the breakfasts are fabulous, the beds are luxurious with crispy clean bedding and the location is perfectly placed between the town and Lake with lovely views.
The proprietors David and Val could not be more friendly and accommodating, they offer a wealth of advice on local restaurants, walks and attractions. They run an environmentally friendly business with furnishings made by a local craftsman using local materials like local slate.
The breakfasts are made from organic wholefoods and I can especially recommend the homemade banana bread and smoothies....they give charitable donations to local groups preserving wildlife like ospreys and red squirrels.
The website is also very good and allows 360 degree views of all the rooms.
We will definitely visit again. Thank you David and Val.

Thank you, David and Val, for yet aother wonderful stay at Howe Keld. We've stayed at the Howe Keld so many times over the past 20 odd years and have yet to be disappointed. The rooms are beautifully decorated and immaculately clean with what must be the most comfortable beds in the world - we slept so well I actually checked what mattresses you use for future reference! And the choice and quality of the food offered at breakfast is fantastic. Your commitment to the comfort and well-being of your guests is exceptional and we really appreciate your efforts in sourcing the best of everything from the food we eat to the pillows we lay our weary heads on at night! Howe Keld is a right little gem of a place to stay which you can be truly proud of and I don't know why I'm broadcasting this - what if we can't get in next time we want to stay in Keswick?!

Honeymoon stay. Room was immaculate and very well presented. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Flasks of coffee prepared for us when requested and champagne chilled. Howe Keld is beuatifully decorated, with well equipped rooms. The owners and staff are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. the location is excellent close to Keswick centre but with amazing views and in a quiet location. Staff very attentive and friendly. Very well organised waitress service for breakfast carried out with military precision. Food was of good quality. Room was clean and refreshing with quality fittings including power shower. The bedroom itself could have been slightly larger although this is a minor issue due to the other mentioned benefits. The price is higher than a standard b&b but the difference is noticeable. Next time i come to Keswick and need a b&b i will be looking to book in at Howe Keld. David Edwards - 22/03/2012 |

We spent three nights at Howe Keld and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. David & Valerie were always helpful; the location was perfect - between the town centre and the lake and hiking; the breakfast was delicious, with plenty of choices and the best coffee of our entire 2-week trip. Room #4 was delightful - big bay windows with a view of the mountains and space enough for 4 to relax and enjoy a glass of wine - even if the weather outdoors was less than desirable! We have just come home from a 3 night stay at howe keld. We have never been in such a beautiful bed and breakfast. We stayed in the junior room and the room was out of this world.
