“3 nights bed and breakfast for theatre visits” Cleanliness - fine. Furnishings and decoration in my bedroom and public rooms were tasetful and in good condition. Information explained about frequency of changing towels, but fresh ones could be provided when I wanted. The tray for wet shoes was a thoughtful and practical accessory. Staff - attentive, prompt and friendly in the breakfast room. On arrival, the owners were very helpful about parking my car. They enquired how I enjoyed the theatre, and how I had slept during a stormy night, which came across as considerate without being intrusive. Also told me about the Olympic torch passing through, which I managed to see. Value for money - very good. The breakfasts were excellent, with a wide choice; over three days I tried different items from the cooked breakfast range - all delicious and slightly unusual. Lovely smoothies as an altenative to fruit juice. The bedside tea tray was well supplied and efficiently topped up. Good quality towels in the bathroom. Location - Perfect for visiting the theatre - only a short walk; also convenient for both the lake and town shops. Quiet street; my room overlooked Borrowdale fells. Services and facilities - The lounge had a good range of books and information for visitors; there was a daily weather printout. I appreciated the hotel's environmental policy which was explained in the bedside folder. Good to have a recycling bag beside the rubbish bin, and refillable toiletries. They also support local suppliers and makers - they really seem to contribute to the area.

“Excellent ” Quite expensive for a 2 nightstay. Perhaps a weekend package rate could be an option but breakfasts great and David and val so friendly and couldn't do enough to make th stay as pleasurable as possible.

“Our stay with you was the highlight of our trip. ” Other B/B's suffered badly by comparison with yours. Astonished at what some places get away with charging when their rooms are so run down and their staff is so unenthusiastic. Thank you for a memorable visit. Will recommend you to everyone we know.

“Fabulous stay” Very warm welcome which makes a lovely change from the often aloof attitude of the many 4/5 star hotels where we'd usually stay. Bed and room luxurious and very comfortable. Bathroom and bath products first class. Breakfast delicious, particularly the home made smoothie! Would highly recommend and would definitely come back again.

“This place could not be bettered” We came here for our 25th Anniversary , just for two nights, I can only say the room was exactly like shown on the web sight. The staff are first class, and the breakfast and dinning room are a perfect start to the day. We could go on all day about how good How Keld is, we could find nothing negative.

“Looking forward to return visit!” excellent Only issue is on street car parking with little/no spaces although there are town car parks within easy walking distance. Excellent breakfast, home-made breads, smoothie, good choice cereals, nuts, seeds, fruits, plus choices of main course (selected night before) Hosts very accommodating, nothing too much trouble. Bedroom and en suite bathroom beautifully furnished and decorated. WIsh we could have stayed longer, hence desire to return!

“Exceptional b&b” Pricier than most bed and breakfast accomodation, but exceptionally high quality of decor, comfort and food. Very nice friendly and helpful owners. My 2nd visit and I'll definitely return.

“Very good” Nice surprise for a B&B. The room was nicely (and newly) done in local wood and slate. We liked the size and upgraded fixtures of the bathroom. We stayed in other B&Bs in other towns and they were all old and tiny. This one was a winner!

Thank you David and Valerie for providing the perfect place to stay for our first anniversary. As well as getting the Bs right – the bed was very comfortable and the range and quality of the breakfast food, service and tableware (!) was excellent – you are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable hosts and Howe Keld is a beautifully decorated, immaculately presented and ideally situated place. We were sad to leave and are looking forward to returning!

“Excellent again!” This is the third time we've stayed at Howe Keld and it's become our accommodation of choice when visiting Keswick. Excellent accommodation, modern and thoughtfully laid out. Warm welcome from owner and wife. Breakfast was excellent- again thought has gone into the sourcing and preparation of food (and it shows) Good variety of fresh, healthy and wholesome food. Cost is pitched competitively- no price increase for 3 years which is welcome and shows recognition of the world we currently live in. This is the standard that all aspiring B and B's should be aiming for. Can't wait to go back!

“Perfect experience, as always” This is undoubtedly the finest B&B we have stayed in. We would not stay anywhere else in Keswick, or perhaps even the Lakes. The management has the perfect combination of that fine balance between friendliness, hospitality, and not being over-intrusive. The accommodation itself is thoroughly modern, and of the highest quality. OK its not as cheap as many others, but WELL worth the extra cost. It's location is also ideal for anywhere in Keswick. We went for a few days last year too, and did not need to use the car for the entire trip. Several excellent walks can begin from Howe Keld, including the Latrigg Skiddaw route. We look forward to returning again and again.

“Absolutely wonderful in every way” David and Valerie are the perfect hosts and Howe Keld is the perfect accommodation. The full English breakfasts are from a range of excellent choices, including vegetarian. Our room was pristine, bed comfortable, view terrific. Location is perfect: walk one way and you're at the Lake; the other and your in the beautiful downtown area. Absolutely five star from our point of view.

The staff were very polite and helpful, it was our first stay in Keswick and we will definitely come back and stay at Howe Keld again.
