“excellent”
The room was clean and furnished with luxury but fuss-free materials! We especially liked the wooden floors, the king sized bed; 2 proper armchairs and the natural fillings for duvet and pillows.
The room also had fab views, which were not mentioned on the website and so were a real bonus!
Service was great; both Val and David were welcoming, warm and friendly and gave very helpful information about Keswick and the surrounding area.
The food was well cooked, well presented and tasted delicious;
and the breakfast staff were helpful, friendly but discrete.

“Perfect stay in the perfect place”
We have stayed at the Howe Keld many times over the past 26 years and have always had a wonderful time there. It is a truly lovely place to stay and David and Val always make you feel so welcome. The hotel is well situated a few minutes walk from the town centre and the lake side and has everything you need for a perfect stay - lovely staff, beautiful, immaculately clean rooms, comfortable beds, wonderful breakfast - and above all, owners who really care about their guests and go out of their way to ensure everything in the hotel is of the best quality. “Comfortable, modern rooms, amazing breakfasts!”
Everything was as perfect as could be expected for a small (ish) b&b. owners lovely & hospitable, rooms clean, modern & very comfy. Well sound proofed unlike a lot of these style buildings where we've stayed before. we hardly heard anything from the rest of the rooms, especially consisering we were in room 2 - adjoining the dining room and lounge area. Good water pressure & temperatures. Good heating. More spacious than equivalent rooms elsewhere.
Huge choice at breakfast and everything was extremely delicious! I am a fussy vegetarian but had plentiful and beautiful choices :)
And to top it off, the location was absolutely spot on. You couldn't get more convenient. A minute to the town centre, but in between the town and the lake so the lake was close too.

“Spotless, comfortable, lovely breakfast, helpful”
Spotlessly clean, well equipped, modern and comfortable accommodation. Beds and bed linen very high standard. Love the ethos of local, organic,free range food wherever possible and the environmental emphasis. Geoff thought the cooked breakfast as good as he has had in any hotel. Very friendly and helpful. “We enjoyed our stay very much.”
Howe Keld was not the least expensive place we looked at but we booked it because it seemed to be a place we would like to stay. We were not disappointed. Val and David were very energetic hosts who made sure everything ran smoothly. They were very helpful without being intrusive. We just spent 2 weeks in The Lakes and 7 of our 12 nites were at Howe Keld!
We booked the Junior Suite and absolutely loved it and highly recommend especially to anyone staying for a longer period.
Howe Keld exceeded our expectations and became a little home away from home. The living area and bathroom were very comfortable and well fitted and the bed was fantastic. It's the first time we didn't want to return home to our own bed!
Breakfast was amazing, offering a lovely, and healthy variety of cereals with nuts, fruit and yogurt followed by a wide selection of hot breakfasts to choose from to suit meat eaters and vegetarians.
Finally, a big thank you to David and Valerie for their hospitality.
Overall - we give Howe Keld a 5 star rating and we will definitely stay there again.
