Howe Keld Accommodation Information

Howe Keld offers a variety of en suite bedrooms, all designed, decorated and equipped to the highest of standards. Single, double, twin or family rooms are available over 2 floors. All have 2000 pocket-sprung beds and flat screen TVs, most of which are Freesat and broadcast HD pictures. Almost all bedrooms are spacious enough to have a seating area and  have a tasteful,  contemporary feel to them. Some have particularly fine views. A Junior Suite is the latest addition to the accommodation available at Howe Keld.

Most of the superior and Bay window rooms have a front aspect looking towards the Western fells. The luxury and two other superior rooms look back towards Keswick - some of those look up towards Latrigg and even Blencathra in the distance. There is  traffic noise from the town side during the day but very little at night. If you are sensitive to traffic noise perhaps look to our front rooms.

Howe Keld occupies a great town location. The quieter side is the front but unless you are particularly sensitive to noise, night time disturbance is minimal whichever room you occupy. For most guests this causes no problem.

Televisions  - of course we know that you don't come to the Lake District to watch TV! However how many times have you been away, decided to switch on only to be disappointed by the picture quality and screen size?

In mountainous areas like the Lake District the terrestrial Freeview signal is often compromised. We have invested heavily to deliver a satellite signal to all double rooms. This means you can listen to and watch well over 160 TV and radio channels ( if you feel so inclined!) including High Definition programmes - all broadcast by Freesat.  Every double bedroom has a 32" LCD Panasonic as a minimum. Many have 37" LED flat screens and we have just installed a whopping 42" Panasonic  Plasma screen in the Junior Suite. So no need to view TV through a magnifying glass!

All bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities, filtered water, electric towel rails, thermostatically controlled central heating radiators, boot trays, large mirrors, hair driers and radio alarm clocks.

An iron and ironing board can be set up downstairs for the use of our guests should they wish (regretfully not in the bedrooms).

Should you wish we can change the bedding to non allergenic Hollowfibre, blankets or different duvets.

The bedrooms are over two floors and much of the furniture in them is the creation of local craftsman Danny Frost, using local, naturally felled hardwoods. Most bathrooms have been completely renewed with constant pressure showers, halogen lighting and green slate floors.

The 4 chalet bedrooms have been given a Cumbrian dialect name to complement the Howe Keld name and its Norse origins. Many of the place names around Keswick are derived from the Norse language. The name of your room could serve as a useful introduction to a local dialect that goes back to its Norse beginnings after settlers arrived from the north many centuries ago.
