Accommodation

The major refurbishment and extension has seen Howe Keld resemble a ‘disaster zone’ over the winter months. But now that’s all in the past and the new look Howe Keld has emerged to take centre stage. And it is bound to demand an encore . . .

The 15 bedrooms are spacious and superb with four luxury rooms the latest addition.

Howe Keld offers a variety of en suite bedrooms, all designed, decorated and equipped to the highest of standards. Single, double, twin or family en suites are all available at Howe Keld. All have pocket-sprung beds, flat screen TVs and a contemporary feel.

We feel very privileged both to live and work in the most beautiful place on the planet! We also recognise that tourism on the scale that exists in the National Park requires careful management to prevent pressures on the environment from building and ultimately damaging what we all love. As a tourism business we have responsibilities and want to play our part in helping this stewardship. Read more on our Green issues here.

The bedrooms are over three upstairs floors, many with tremendous views of the fells. Two ground floor rooms are also very popular with one adapted for wheelchair use. Again, much of the furniture is the creation of local craftsman Danny Frost, using local, naturally felled hardwoods. The bathrooms have been completely renewed with constant pressure showers, halogen lighting and green slate floors.

All 15 bedrooms have been given a Cumbrian dialect name to complement the Howe Keld name and its Norse origins. Many of the place names around Keswick are derived from the Norse language. The name of your room could serve as a useful introduction to a local dialect that goes back to its Norse beginnings after settlers arrived from the north many centuries ago.
