Location
Situated a hop, step and a jump away from Derwentwater and the impressive Theatre by the Lake, Howe Keld has commanding views of the surrounding Lakeland fells.
Bedrooms
Howe Keld offers a variety of en suite bedrooms, all designed, decorated and equipped to the highest of standards. Single, double, twin or family en suites are all available at Howe Keld. All have pocket-sprung beds, flat screen TVs and a contemporary feel.
Relaxation
On the ground floor there is a bright new spacious dining room and lounge / reception area where guests will be able to relax. In these rooms you will also find lots of useful information in books and magazines about the area but Val and David and their two daughters, Josie and Sophie will be only too happy to help with advice regarding walks, visitor attractions and local restaurants for dinner.
Breakfast
Howe Keld is renowned for its multi choice breakfasts. The AA has nominated Howe Keld for their
national ‘Breakfast of the Year’ award. The emphasis is very much on local produce. Home baked organic bread, with its beautiful aroma, is made from wholewheat flour ground at a local flour mill and there are free range eggs from a nearby farm. The air cured bacon comes from Richard Woodall’s south Cumbrian farm, by Royal Appointment. His Cumberland sausage is also the very best.
Howe Keld operates a Fair Trade philosophy and even the Fair Trade coffee is grown organically in Java.
Breakfast is taken in the new, bright and spacious dining room amid fine white china and fresh flowers. The food can be enjoyed at English oak tables and chairs, all crafted by a 7th generation firm of furniture makers. There is an extensive variety of dishes – cereals, yoghurts, fruits, compotes, breads and preserves – at the buffet before you make your selection from a wide choice of cooked breakfasts.
Everyone, including vegetarians, will delight in the choice available.
